THE PERMANENT RECORD

Industrial Ink Archive // Declassified Formulas

Why We Do This

Modern safety regulations have killed the "Good Stuff." The iconic industrial markers of the 20th century—the ones that bit through grease, rust, and time—are disappearing.

The Permanent Record is an open-source chemistry project dedicated to reverse-engineering these lost formulas. We cross-reference vintage MSDS documents with industrial formulation practices to bring you the raw data, the chemistry, and the shopping lists to recreate history.
